What is Navigo DĂ©couverte?
Navigo DĂ©couverte is a nominative (personalized) contactless card designed for tourists and occasional visitors who want to load weekly or monthly passes. Unlike Navigo Easy which stores individual tickets, Navigo DĂ©couverte lets you enjoy unlimited travel on all public transport in the Paris region.
The card is nominative - your name and photo are on the card. Only you can use it. Fines for using someone else's card can be significant.

Photo Requirements
- Passport-sized photo (3cm x 2.5cm)
- Recent photo showing your face clearly
- No hats, glasses, or obstructions
Photo booths are available at many metro stations (€5-6). You can also bring a photo from home.
Name on Card
You'll need to write your name on the card. The card is then valid only for you.
Cannot be transferred or shared. Using someone else's card risks a €50+ fine.
Where to Buy Navigo DĂ©couverte
Station Ticket Windows
Staffed ticket counters (guichets) at metro, RER, and train stations. Available at most stations during operating hours.
Authorized Stores

Ticket Machines
Available at all stations. You can reload your existing card here, though you cannot buy the physical DĂ©couverte card from these machines.
Unlike Navigo Easy, you cannot buy Navigo DĂ©couverte cards at ticket machines. You must visit a staffed ticket window or authorized store.
How to Use Navigo DĂ©couverte
Bring Your Photo
Prepare a passport-sized photo (3x2.5cm) before visiting the ticket office.
Buy at Ticket Window
Go to a staffed guichet, pay €5 for the card, and attach your photo.
Load Your Pass
Load your preferred pass at the counter or at any ticket machine.
Enjoy Unlimited Travel
Tap your card on the purple reader at gates. Travel unlimited in all zones!
Pass Purchase Dates
Weekly Pass (Navigo Semaine)
Monday to Thursday: You can purchase the current week's pass (valid Mon-Sun).
Friday onwards: You can only purchase next week's pass.
Monthly Pass (Navigo Mois)
1st to 19th: You can purchase the current month's pass.
From the 20th: You can only purchase next month's pass.

Can I share my Navigo DĂ©couverte?
No. The card has your photo and name - it's strictly personal. Using someone else's card risks a €50+ fine if checked by inspectors.
What if I lose my card?
Unfortunately, there's no refund for lost cards. You'll need to buy a new card (€5) and reload a pass.
Does it include airport travel?
Yes! Weekly and monthly passes on Navigo DĂ©couverte include unlimited travel to CDG and Orly airports via RER/train. No extra ticket needed.
Can I reuse the card on future trips?
Yes! The card is valid for 10 years. On your next Paris trip, just reload a new weekly or monthly pass at any ticket machine.
